Who runs it
Gold Eagle Casino opened in 1996 and was the first casino to open under SIGA, the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority. SIGA dates from June 10, 1995, and the First Nations Gaming Act is the law that created it. It is a First Nations, non-profit organization that runs 7 casinos in Saskatchewan in partnership with Lotteries and Gaming Saskatchewan (LGS).
The land under the casino belongs to Mosquito Grizzly Bear's Head Lean Man First Nation. In December 2025 a ministerial order renamed the site from Gold Eagle Reserve to the MGBHLM First Nation Urban Reserve. Net profits from SIGA's 7 casinos are split three ways. The First Nations Trust gets 50%, Community Development Corporations get 25%, and the Government of Saskatchewan receives 25% for its General Revenue Fund.
Online play in Saskatchewan
In Saskatchewan, no online gambling site is legal except PlayNow.com, which SIGA operates. It is for players 19 and older. SIGA's online exclusivity runs to September 2029.
An Ad link on the guide's home page never leads to PlayNow.com. Its target is the guide's sole partner, a private online casino that can change and that gives the guide a commission. Self-exclusion is a ban a person asks for on their own gambling. Through SIGA or Game Break it covers Saskatchewan casinos and PlayNow.com, but it does not block a private online casino site.
Where to get help
- The Saskatchewan Problem Gambling Helpline, 1-800-306-6789, puts callers in touch with trained counsellors for free and in confidence, 24 hours a day.
- At any SIGA casino, a person can request SIGA Voluntary Self-Exclusion: a ban from all 9 Saskatchewan casinos lasting 6 months up to 5 years.
- Game Break, SaskGaming's self-exclusion program, also covers every casino in the province and PlayNow.com, and once in effect it cannot be shortened.
